Este año es MI año. He empezado mi primer trabajo de verdad y vivo en la ciudad en la que siempre he querido vivir, nada puede salir mal. A partir de ahora, viajar no es solo un hobby o un entretenimiento, también es a lo que me dedico como Relaciones Públicas de hoteles y restaurantes, así que tengo que aplicarme mucho y escoger bien mis destinos, aquí tenéis los 5 sitios a los que me gustaría ir este año, ¡ya veremos si lo consigo!

2012 is MY year, I just started my first real job and I live where I always wanted, nothing can go wrong! From now on travelling is not just a hobby but also my job (as I am now in luxury travel PR) so my destinations need to be carefully planned. Here, the 5 places I want to visit this year... hopefully I will!

Going for sure... BERLIN

He estado dos veces en Alemania y nunca en Berlín. Es un autentico pecado así que de este año no puede pasar. Mi prima esta allí de Erasmus así que tendré que pedirle alojamiento y un fin de semana largo de guia turística. Hay gente que va a las ciudades en busca de museos, yo busco vintage, cócteles y restaurantes trendy, ya os contare como se porta Berlin.

I´ve been to Germany twice but never to Berlin. My cousin is living there on her Erasmus year so I will ask her to host me for a long weekend and show me around. Some people look for museums when they visit a city, I am more of a vintage, coctails and trendy restaurants person. Will tell you what Berlin has to offer.

Have to go, away from England ... GREEK ISLANDS

No esta demasiado lejos pero con la crisis Grecia parece ser mas barato que nunca y siempre he querido ir a sus islas aunque no soy muy de sol y playa. Tengo en mente una sorpresa para alguien muy importante que cumple una edad muy importante (50 y fabulosa, claro!), ya veremos como sale...

I know it's not very far but with the crisis and everything Greece is supposed to be cheaper than ever and I always wanted to go to the islands, even though I've never been to much of a beach and sun person. I have a little surprise in mind for someone's very important birthday (50 and fabulous, you know?) , will see how that works out...

Have to go, in the UK... BATH

He vivido en el norte de Gales, Poole y ahora en Londres y, a pesar de que los que lo conocen dicen que es precioso y he estado a punto varias veces, nunca he ido a Bath. Esto va a cambiar en el futuro próximo porque pienso planear un fin de semana alli, una noche sola si hace falta pero de 2012 no pasa.

I've lived in Wales, Poole and now London and never been to Bath. It's seriously bad -rumor has it is a lovely town- so a short weekend break is a possibility for the short future.

Otra visita especial. Mi amiga Elisa lleva un tiempo viviendo en París y los tickets de Eurostar comprados con antelacion son bastante baratos así que no tengo (ni necesito) excusa. Lo mejor es que su novio es Parisino así que nada de turisteo y si mucho Paris de verdad!

Another visit to special people. My friend Elisa has lived in Paris for a while now and with the advanced Eurostar tickets being reasonably cheap I really need to visit. Best part is, her boyfriend IS from Paris so out with sightseeing and in with the real Paris!

I wish I could go to... NEW YORK

Siempre nos quedara soñar pero, seamos realistas, no creo que ahorre suficiente. En el altamente probable caso de que no vaya este año, NY sera el Berlin de 2013, un must go!

Because a girl can dream but, let;s be realistic, I'm not going to save enough. But if that happens - or doesn't happen really- I will make NY next's years Berlin, a Must go destination!

Marion Cotillard ya tiene sucesora como imagen de la linea de bolsos Miss Dior, Mila Kunis. Es el mismo estilo de belleza morena de ojos grandes, delicada pero con un cierto halo de fortaleza.

Mila Kunis is the star to follow Marion Cotillard as the face of Miss Dior's bags. They clearly kept the style, a delicate brunette with huge eyes but a certain air of confidence and strenght.

Al Cesar lo que es del Cesar y esta vez tengo que felicitar a Donatella Versace por su segunda colección para H&M, en la que ha decidido dejar de lado esos flecos y colores terribles. Solo estará disponible online a partir del 19 de enero así que todas preparadas delante del ordenador. Puede que no consigamos comprar nada pero al menos no estaremos haciendo cola en la calle.

Also I need to congratulate Donatella Versace on her second H&M collection. I new you could get rid of those horrible fringes and colors, well done you!! It is available exclusively online from January 19th so be ready. We might not manage to buy anything but at least we won't be freezing in a queue!

Un poco mas difícil en España, pero merece la pena repasar la portada de Elle UK de febrero. Dakota Fanning esta impresionante con unos labios rojo mate que podre copiar - si John Lewis se porta bien y ha renovado su stock - esta misma tarde, cuando consiga de una vez mi Rouge Allure Velvet de Chanel. La textura es impresionante.

You need to check out Elle UK's February cover with Dakota Fanning on it. She looks amazing, not 17 years old, but amazing anyway. Those mat red lips will be soon copied by myself, whenever I get my hands on Chanel's Rouge Allure Velvet. This same afternoon if John Lewis is good to me!

Christian Louboutin

Y para terminar otra fecha que debeis marcar en vuestro calendario, la exposición retrospectiva de Christian Louboutin en el Museo del Diseño de Londres, un recorrido por su inspiración y sus diseños que, seguro, no tendrá desperdicio. Por si necesitábais una excusa mas para venir a Londres estará abierta entre el 28 de Marzo y el 1 de Julio.

And what better way to finish this news round-up than with the Louboutin Exhibition that will be open in The Design Museum between March 28th and July 1st. It celebrates the designer's career and shows his inspiration and, obviously, some of his coveted creations.

En Londres los escaparates y decoraciones navideñas empezaron a ser colocados en Noviembre, claramente saben que tienen un gran negocio en las compras. No en vano se dice que las calles Oxford y Regent son las vías comerciales más importantes de Europa en Navidad.

Los escaparates que os quiero enseñar hoy son del centro comercial Selfridge&Co, en Oxford Street. Es la segunda cadena en importancia después de Harrods y cuenta con todas las marcas de lujo, de cosmética a prendas de vestir pasando por accesorios y complementos. Las fotos hablan por si solas así que ¡a disfrutar!

Christmas decorations and windows started to be set in London in November. They clearly know their market is huge in this time of year. I have read somewhere how Oxford and Regents Streets are the most important shopping places in Europe during Christmas time.

The windows in the pictures are from Selfridge&Co, a shopping centre in Oxford Street. It´s the second most important chain in the country after Harrods and you can find all sorts of luxury brands there, from cosmetics to clothes including accessories and home gear. Just look at the pictures and enjoy the view!

Las niñas ya no quieren ser princesas

Cuando yo tenía 12 años jugaba con muñecas, a veces iba al cine con mis amigas y me gustaba mucho leer. Me pintaba con el maquillaje de mi madre y me ponía sus tacones por casa pero nunca me dejaban salir a la calle con nada de ello. Me vestía como quería dentro de los límites de la lógica y, aunque mi terrible carácter ya me metía en problemas, era en general una niña buena y feliz.
Aunque dentro de 9 días cumplo 25 años, este post que significa mi vuelta a la blogosfera no tiene que ver con lo mayor que me siento de repente sino con varios acontecimientos que han tenido lugar en la ultima semana y que me han dado pie a reflexionar sobre cuando una niña deja de ser una niña y pasa a ser "mayor" y como mis 12 años no tienen nada que ver con los 12 años del siglo XXI. Como este blog no es de psicología ni de filosofía voy a utilizar mi fenómeno fashion favorito de los últimos meses.

When I was 12 I played with Barbies, sometimes went to the cinema with my friends -I will never forget the excitement of watching Toy Story for the first time- and I loved reading. I used to spread my mum's make-up on my face and wear her heels around the house but was never allowed to get out on the street with any of those things on. I wore whatever I wanted always within the limits of reason and even though my terrible character was already getting me into some troubles - those poor teachers dealing with my non-stop chat in class and my putting up a fight every time someone was unjustly punished...- I was a nice, happy little girl.

I turn 25 in 9 days but I'm not writing this post because I feel melancholic or old, but because some happenings in the last week got me thinking about how my 12 years of age were not at all like the 12 years of the girls of this century. And since I am not an expert in philosophy or psichology I will use the ultimate fashion phenomenon as an example.

Siempre quise tener a Barbie Escarlata... / I always wanted to have this Scarlet O'Hara Barbie...

Elle Fanning nació en abril de 1998 así que cuenta con 13 anos de vida. Es la estrella de Super 8 y la niña mimada del momento en el cine americano. Pero Elle no es una niña, es toda una adulta que se viste de Vuitton, va a desfiles de Alta Costura y lleva tacones de 10 centímetros. Ha aparecido en (casi) todas las publicaciones de moda desde que tenía solo 12 y en casi ninguna de las fotos parece una niña. Las imágenes que ilustran esta entrada me hacen sentir una mezcla de admiración por la esbeltez de su cuerpo y la delicadeza de sus rasgos, y pena profunda, porque no puedo evitar pensar que se esta perdiéndose una parte de su vida y precipitándose a un mundo, el del cine y la moda, que puede destrozarla. Parece que ejemplos como Drew Barrimore o Lindsay Lohan no sirven para nada. Creo que Elle Fanning tiene mucho mas talento que ellas dos y espero sinceramente que su potencial artístico la salve de su propio destino.

Elle Fanning was born in April 1998 so she's 13. She was the loved one in Super 8 and everybody is crazy about her in the American Film scene. But, with her 13 years of life, Elle is not a girl but an adult who wears Vuitton, attends Haute Couture shows in Paris -front row, any doubt about that?- and walks the red carpet in 10 cm. heels. She's been on the cover of virtually every fashion publication that matters since she was only 12 and for some reason never looks like a girl. The pictures you'll see next always leave me with a mixture of admiration for the slenderness of her body and the pixie like face, and a deep sorrow because I can help but thinking she's missing a very important part of her life and rushing into world that can tear her apart. Examples like Drew Barrimore or Lindsay Lohan seem to be forgotten. In my opinion Elle Fanning is much more talented than the other two and I really hope her potential will save her from her own fate.

III CURSO DE MODA: MODA Y ARTE

Esta mañana me he levantado generosa y voy a compartir con vosotros una información muy valiosa jeje.
El Observatorio de Tendencias Moda/modos (OBtem) es un espacio de reflexión y de intercambio de información que nace con el objetivo de captar la dirección que toman las nuevas tendencias estéticas y de consumo en el mundo de la moda, el arte y la música, tomando las señales de la calle, la red y otros espacios como fuente principal para la reflexión.

OBtem es una iniciativa de la Sección Departamental de Historia y Ciencias de la Música dirigido a la comunidad universitaria y que tiene como eje principal de sus actividades un seminario de estudios donde de manera periódica se busca facilitar herramientas que expliquen incipientes comportamientos, modos, prácticas y estilos implicados en el fenómeno social moda.

Pues bien, estamos organizando el III Curso de Moda que se llamará Moda y Arte, Construyendo la identidad de marca. Podeis consultar este enlace para informaros sobre el programa.

Ya sabeis, todos los que esteis en Valladolid o podais desplazaros alli los días 24 y 25 de Marzo os estaremos esperando en la Facultad de Filosofia y letras. Y si sois estudiantes de la UVa y os matriculais en el curso (mas informacion en el Centro Buendía) se han solicitado 2 créditos de libre configuracion.

¿Habrá sido porque este es el mes de lanzamiento de Harper's Bazaar y tenian que dejar claro quien manda en el mercado de las revistas de moda españolas? o quizas ..¿¡ tendré lectores en la redacción de Vogue!?. Esto ultimo es una broma, claro. Ojala los tuviera. Lo importante es que esta si es una portada digna de Vogue. Una portada y un número y todo. También es verdad que el mes pasado no tenia el mejor día.... la cosa es que si, así si se entiende la reverencia mundial a esta cabecera. Como debe ser.
Estariais pensando que habia desaparecido, podeis ver que no. Examenes, vacaciones y principalmente agobios de futuro pero todo se soluciona con buena voluntad, espero. Intentare estar un poco mas. No comento pero os leo, lo prometo.

Bueno bueno seguimos teniendo cosas de Señoras, un proyecto en el que como podeis ver me he implicado mucho.
Vamos a hacer un estudio, veamos cuantas visitas tiene el blog gracias a esta entrada sobre Señoras. Ahora mismo hay 3511 visitas en mi blog, os ire contando cuanto sube.

Os pongo otra vez link al video, ya os estareis dando cuenta de que todo esto va muy despacio, hay que tener cuidado, muchos controles, muchas movidas que superar pero fenomenoinsolito funciona poco a poco....

Hace ya mas de un mes que no actualizo. Visitas, Navidad y sobre todo...¡Examenes! y no unos cualquiera, si Dios quiere los ultimos examenes de Febrero de mi Licenciatura. El lunes es el primer y mas dificil examen probablemente de toda mi carrera asi que espero que me perdoneis, Despues vienen mas examenes y varios viajes pero prometo hacer un hueco para comentar temas importantes porque empiezan las Semanas de la Moda, mi epoca favorita del año, ya sabeis. Seguid por aqui, yo sigo leyendoos.

It's been more than a month. People visiting, Christmas Holidays and most of all... exams!!! and not any exams but (please, please!) the last February exams of my Degree. The most terrible exam I have ever studied (not difficult but endlessly long) is on Monday. After that more exams and long trips but also... fashion weeks!!! my favourite part of the year so I promise I will keep you updated. Stay tuned, please, I keep reading you.

El otro dia entre los miles de feeds que tengo en mi Google reader encontre una entrada donde habia una ilustracion que me llamo la atencion asi que entre en la web de la artista. Me sorprendio tanto su trabajo que le pedi permiso a través del email para enseñaros algunos de sus trabajos.

Lo cierto es que ha hecho muchos trabajos para revistas de moda y podeis ver aqui mas cosas pero os enseño mis favoritos porque de verdad me ha dejado fascinada. Si quereis saber mas cosas sobre ella leed esta entrevista que le hicieron en Febrero en el blog Fashionisima.

I liked it so much I had to take a look at her website and I liked it even better that the first time so I asked her permission to show you some of her work.

British Fashion Awards Winners

En medio de la averia de mi ordenador que se extiende a diferentes programas a cada minuto que pasa, aprovecho que estoy en clase y no es lo mas divertido del mundo para anunciar que he acertado muchisimo en mi apuesta por los ganadores de los British Fashion Awards. Mi apuesta fue por Nicholas Kirkwood, Georgia Jagger, Burberry y Peter Pilotto en mi entrada sobre los nominados. Pues bien estos han sido los ganadores que os traigo puntualmente y en esta entrada relampago:

- Premio Swarovski al mejor diseñador emergente: Obvia y claramente Peter Pilotto porque son magnificos en todas sus creaciones.
- Diseñador de complementos: Aqui he fallado, a lo mejor era demasiado que ganase Nicholas Kirkwood, ya tiene suficientes fans y seguimiento asi que ha ganado Katie Hillier.
- Modelo del año: Georgia jagger, no tenia ninguna duda en esta.
- Mejor marca del año: Burberry, era la mejor de las tres (que poco objetiva soy...)
- Y Diseñador del año, al que le dedicare encantada un post igual que hice con Luella el año pasado..... Christopher Bailey.
En otras categorias ha ganado por ejemplo Christopher Kane (mejor coleccion del año) y mi adorada Grace Coddington (por fvor, teneis que ver The September Issue si no la habeis visto para valorarla en todo lo que se merece) pues ella ha ganado el premio Isabella Blow a la mejor creativa de moda. Podeis ver todos los ganadores aqui.
Y aqui termina el post mas rápido de mi vida, volveremos a vernos cuando mi Internet Explorer me lo permita, mientras tanto portaos bien, pasadlo bien y contadme que os parece.

In the middle of my computer's massive breakdown that is affecting more programs every minute, I am taking advance of my being quite bored in class to proudly anounce that I was almost completely rigth about the Brtish Fashion Awards Winners. I said Nicholas Kirkwood, Georgia Jagger, Burberry y Peter Pilotto on my nominees post. Here, the winners in this really very quickly made post:
- Accesory designer: I failed here, it may have been to much for Nicholas Kirkwood to win, he's got enough fans and publicity already so Katie Hillier won.
- Model of the year: No doubts here, Georgia Jagger was the clear favourite.
- Best designer brand: Burberry, it was the best one (I am really not objective here)
- Swarovski talent award for Ready to Wear: Peter Pilotto, obviously because they are just amazing.
- And Designer of the year, and I will be very happy to make a post about him as I did with Luella last year, .... Christopher Bailey.
Other prices, Christopher Kane's collection was the best of this year and my beloved Grace Coddington (please please you HAVE to watch The September Issue if you haven´t yet just to see and admire her in her best) well, she won the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator. You can see all the winners here.

Parece que esta temporada todas las tiendas se han apuntado al estilo de Chloé. Las propuestas de Hannah McGibbon para este Otoño-invierno fueron de mis favoritas el pasado febrero y no paro de ver cosas en las tiendas que tienen algun toque o incluso que son clones casi perfectos.

Arriba: Botines de Bimba & Lola y botines de cuña de Chloé que pongo para comentaros que en Bimba y Lola los hay practicamente iguales pero en color granate aunque pasa por marrón, 210 euros y magnificos, los tuve en el pie gracias a dios una talla me quedaba pequeña y la otra grande.

Y aqui teneis la prueba de que en Bimba y Lola estan muy Chloé-lescos y tienen looks completos casi exactos. Yo deseo la capa y tengo unos botines de cuña negros de Zara asi que voy encontrando mis cosas, ¿Que os parece a vosotros este estilo? ¿Teneis alguna prenda?.

And above is the denite proof that Bimba & Lola loves the chloé-lesque style, as you can see that look is almost the same. I die for the cape and have a pair of Zara lace-up wedge ankle boots, what about you? do you like the style?

La coleccion Métiers d'Arts 2009 de Chanel fue presentada ayer en Shangai. Es un desfile especial que Chanel hace cada año en honor a los artesanos de Paris, por eso suele contar con todo tipo de encajes, bordados y otras obras de arte textiles. Siempre se mantienen los simbolos mas emblemáticos de Chanel y se mezclan con elementos de diferentes tematicas, la ultima vez fue Rusia y este Asia a través de sombreros chinos y el maquillaje.
Podria dedicarme a describiros la coleccion pero es mucho mas facil enseñarosla asi que aqui la teneis, solo deciros que es uno de los desfiles de Chanel que mas me ha gustado en mucho, mucho tiempo.

This year´s Métiers d'Arts collection has been presented in Shangai. It is a special collection Chanel does every year honouring Paris craftsmen and is therefore filled with amazing lace and embroidered pieces. Karl Lagerfeld always keeps some of the emblematic Chanel signs such as tweed but mixing them with different elements. Last time it was Russia and last night we could see a clear asian inspiration mainly in make up and chinese hats.
I could describe everythnig but I prefer you to think for yourselves so here it is, just say that itis one of my favourite Chanel shows of all time.

En defensa de los derechos fundamentales de internet

Si hay algo que odio en este mundo es que me consideren tonta o vacia porque me guste la moda y desgraciadamente es una asociación demasiado habitual; quiero dedicarme a la moda = soy tonta y solo me preocupa pintarme los labios e ir combinada.
Creo que nunca os lo he contado pero el nombre de este blog tiene explicacion, yo soy muy contradictoria y me gusta leer Vogue mientras escucho Carrusel Deportivo, me encanta el fútbol y la politica, lo que mas me gusta del mundo es leer y mis asignaturas favoritas en el colegio eran Historia y Filosofia. Por eso, porque una persona puede tener muchas aficiones y ninguna de ellas ha de anular a las otras, hoy voy a hacer un post que nada tiene que ver con lo habitual. Quiero apoyar con mi entrada a ese grupo de internautas que estan en contra de los planes del gobierno y han publicado el manifiesto que pongo a continuación. ¿Qué os parece a vosotros que se limite de ese modo el uso de internet? ¿Derechos de autor o derecho al uso libre de internet?

- Los derechos de autor no pueden situarse por encima de los derechos fundamentales de los ciudadanos, como el derecho a la privacidad, a la seguridad, a la presunción de inocencia, a la tutela judicial efectiva y a la libertad de expresión.
- La suspensión de derechos fundamentales es y debe seguir siendo competencia exclusiva del poder judicial. Ni un cierre sin sentencia. Este anteproyecto, en contra de lo establecido en el artículo 20.5 de la Constitución, pone en manos de un órgano no judicial –un organismo dependiente del Ministerio de Cultura–, la potestad de impedir a los ciudadanos españoles el acceso a cualquier página web.
- La nueva legislación creará inseguridad jurídica en todo el sector tecnológico español, perjudicando uno de los pocos campos de desarrollo y futuro de nuestra economía, entorpeciendo la creación de empresas, introduciendo trabas a la libre competencia y ralentizando su proyección internacional.
- La nueva legislación propuesta amenaza a los nuevos creadores y entorpece la creación cultural. Con Internet y los sucesivos avances tecnológicos se ha democratizado extraordinariamente la creación y emisión de contenidos de todo tipo, que ya no provienen prevalentemente de las industrias culturales tradicionales, sino de multitud de fuentes diferentes.
- Los autores, como todos los trabajadores, tienen derecho a vivir de su trabajo con nuevas ideas creativas, modelos de negocio y actividades asociadas a sus creaciones. Intentar sostener con cambios legislativos a una industria obsoleta que no sabe adaptarse a este nuevo entorno no es ni justo ni realista. Si su modelo de negocio se basaba en el control de las copias de las obras y en Internet no es posible sin vulnerar derechos fundamentales, deberían buscar otro modelo.
- Consideramos que las industrias culturales necesitan para sobrevivir alternativas modernas, eficaces, creíbles y asequibles y que se adecuen a los nuevos usos sociales, en lugar de limitaciones tan desproporcionadas como ineficaces para el fin que dicen perseguir.
Internet debe funcionar de forma libre y sin interferencias políticas auspiciadas por sectores que pretenden perpetuar obsoletos modelos de negocio e imposibilitar que el saber humano siga siendo libre.
- Exigimos que el Gobierno garantice por ley la neutralidad de la Red en España, ante cualquier presión que pueda producirse, como marco para el desarrollo de una economía sostenible y realista de cara al futuro.
- Proponemos una verdadera reforma del derecho de propiedad intelectual orientada a su fin: devolver a la sociedad el conocimiento, promover el dominio público y limitar los abusos de las entidades gestoras.
- En democracia las leyes y sus modificaciones deben aprobarse tras el oportuno debate público y habiendo consultado previamente a todas las partes implicadas. No es de recibo que se realicen cambios legislativos que afectan a derechos fundamentales en una ley no orgánica y que versa sobre otra materia.

Computers drive me crazy!

Mi ordenador ha sufrido un fallo multiorganico y solo me deja hacer ciertas cosas como conectarme a internet y utilizar Skype y word, por tanto todas las entradas programadas no estan funcionando porque las hago en otro programa... complicado, la cuestión que tengo que volver a hacerlas, intentare liberarme de cosas de clase pra poder hacerlo cuanto antes, mientras tanto seguire visitándos. Nos vemos pronto!

My computer suffered a multiple error and allows me only to access the internet, skype and word. I use another program for posting and it is not working so I will have to re-make all the post I had programmed. Voy a hacer un descanso en los trends de los 80 para hablaros de una organizacion y varias iniciativas que merecen la pena pero tranquilas que esta pendiente un post con toques crueles sobre medias transparentes y pelos cardados.

I’m going to give a rest to the 80’s trends to talk about some good initiatives I heard about but don’t worry I’ll be back with some almost mean post about transparent tights and fluffy hair.

Art&Fashion es una organizacion ubicada en el País Vasco con mucha cobertura internacional. El pasado 16 de noviembre presentaron una exposición llamada 23 Balenciagas entre nosotros, con modelos inéditos del diseñador como los que podeis ver en las fotos. Tambien hubo una mesa redonda sobre un tema que nos toca muy de cerca, la moda en los blogs, donde participaron Nagore de fashionismyprofession.blogspot.com, Begoña Mardaras de www.demoda.es, Laura de www.mepasoeldiacomprando.com y Gabriel de chicisimo.com.

Art&Fashion is an organization established in the Vasc Country with quite an international projection. On November 16th they presented an exhibit with 23 exclusive Balenciaga designs, some of them you can see in the pictures. There was also a discussion about Fashion and Blogs where Nagore from fashionismyprofession.blogspot.com,Begoña Mardaras from www.demoda.es, Laura de www.mepasoeldiacomprando.com and Gabriel from chicisimo.com participated.

Ademas presntaron BILBOOST Art&Fashion, una comunidad virtual de arte y moda creada por Bilbao International Art&Fashion que quiere dar la oportunidad a jovenes diseñadores de todo el mundo de mostrar su trabajo y conectar con diseñadores consagrados ademas de promocionar la moda como bien cultural relacionado con el arte. Aqui podeis leer mas sobre los objetivos de este proyecto y entrar a formar parte de el.

They also presented BILBOOST Art&Fashion, a virtual community created by Bilbao International Art&Fashion that wants to give worldwide new designers a chance to show their work and connect with experienced creatives too, as well as promoting fashion as a cultural and art-related topic. Y los creativos estais de enhorabuena porque Art&Fashion tambien organiza un concurso internacional de diseño con dos categorias, prendas de vestir y complemento. El II Bilbao International Art&Fashion Design competition cuenta con un premio de 8000 euros para cada categoria. Cada participante debera presentar una coleccion de 3 piezas con bocetos de las 3 y una terminada en el material escogido. Entrad aqui para mas información, podeis inscribiros hasta el 15 de Diciembre.

What the 80’s give, the 80’s take (II)

Hoy le toca al turno a mis dos tendencias favoritas dentro de esta vuelta de los 80, las hombreras y las botas altas. Son dificiles y extremas pero las dos pueden conciliarse con nuestra manera de vestir cada dia.

En tiendas como Zara ya hay muchas camisetas con hombreras pero suelen ser lisas y costar 40 euros. La solucion: compra una camiseta basica, ve a una merceria y escoge entre las miles de formas de hombreras y coselas. Ya tienes tu camiseta con hombreras por mucho menos. Yo por mi parte decidi utilizar una camiseta larga de Topshop, comprar tachuelas en ebay y decorarla con hombreras redondas.

My two favourite trends among the 80’s vibe, shoulder pads and over-Knee boots. They are both difficult and extreme but we can still conciliate them with our everyday dressing.

In shops like Zara you can find t-shirts with shoulder pads but if you don’t want to spend around 40 euros the easy way is this: buy a plain t-shirt, go to your shop and choose from the big range of shoulder pads available. Miraculous fashion update in about 10 minutes. I decided to buy a long Topshop T-shirt, studs and round shoulder pads here is the result.

En cuanto a las botas entiendo que a muchas os pueden parecer imposibles pero es todo perder el miedo pero tengo que admitir que por ahi se ven cosas de tacon altisimo plataforma y materiales poco recomendables. Claro que si te las pones con un corset y una minifalda el look no es el mas recomendado pero con unos vaqueros, camiseta y americana le dan un toque diferente a un outfit de lo mas normal. Y si no os atreveis con las que son a medio muslo mejor empezar con algunas mas planas.

And about the boots I can understand you find them impossible but you just need to stop being afraid. I have to admit some of them are quite terrible with too high heels and strange materials. Of course if you wear them with bustier and mini-skirt the look will turn out to be absolutely wrong but pair them with jeans and a blazer and the boots will brighten up any boring outfit. And if you are still not convinced just try flat boots only slightly over the knee.

Como he comentado en muchas ocasiones los 80 me parecen una década muy divertida y estoy encantada de que sean tendencia para este otoño y aun la proxima primavera. Pero como en todo no es nada recomendable tomarselo demasiado al pie de la letra asi que vestidos cortos con lentejuelas o tachuelas, chaquetas con hombreras de todo tipo, pantalones de pinzas, botas por encima de la rodilla vale, pero medias transparentes y pelo cardado no. Pero todo a su tiempo hoy toca la tendencia disco porque llevo toda la tarde escuchando Mecano y me recuerda a la movida madrileña.

As I told you many times I really like the 80’s, I think they are a fun decade and I’m very happy they are such a big trend for fall and spring. But, as it also happens in life, we have to be careful with being too trendy so short paillete dresses, shoulder pads, baggy trousers, over-the-knee boots… ok but NOT transparent tights or fluffy hair. But everything has a time so lets start with the disco trend because I’ve been listening Mecano for the whole afternoon and it reminds me of la Movida Madrileña (for those who doesn´t know, Mecano is a Spanish 8’s group and la Movida Madrileña was a whole party and night movement that happened in Madrid at the time)

THE CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner

Alexander Wang, el niño mimado de la moda americana, el diseñador mas it, el creador del recien levantado chic era ~~practicamente~~ un desconocido hasta que el año pasado gano la CFDA/Vogue fashion fund y es que muchas veces parece no nos fijamos en un diseñador hasta que alguna fashionista viste su ropa o alguna revista publica sus prendas.

Sophie Theallet es una diseñadora francesa que ha trabajado para Gaultier y Alaïa antes de trasladarse a Nueva York donde reside. En 2005 mostro su primera coleccion y califica su estilo de Lujo bohemio. Pues bien, ella es la ganadora de la “ beca” de este año que le proporciona 200 mil dolares y lo mas importante, un año de asesoramiento de la fundacion y lo mas importante de VOgue. Los que hayais visto The September Issue podeis ver mas o menos en que consiste esto de que Anna Wintour y su equipo te tutoricen, es mas o menos lo que en la pelicula hacen con Takhoon pero sin la colaboracion con GAP.

Y digo que no nos fijamos porque estoy segura de que si nos dicen que esta coleccion primavera verano 2010 es de Lanvin, Luella, Carolina Herrera o cualquier otro diseñador conocido hubiera aparecido en muchos blogs pero nadie conocia a Sophie Theallet cuando la presentó asi que aqui la teneis, espero que os guste.

Alexander Wang, american fashion’s babe, the coolest designer, the “just-woke-up-chic” creator, was practically unknown before last year, when he won the CFDA/Vogue fashion fund. We hardly ever look at a designer’s work until some fashionista wears the clothes or a fashion magazine features them.

Shopie Theallet is a french fashion designer who worked for Gaultier and Alaïa before moving to New York, where she lives now. Her first collection was showed in 2005 and she says her style is “bohemian luxe”. Well, she is this year’s fund winner and is getting a $200.000 prize and most important a CFDA and Vogue mentoring year. For those who have seen The September Issue that means more or less what Anna Wintour does in the movie with Takhoon only without the GAP collaboration.

And I say we don’t look ant anything new because I am sure if we had been told that this Spring summer 2010 collection had been created by Lanvin, Luella, Carolina Herrera or any other know designer I am sure it would have appeared in many blogs, but nobody knew Shopie Theallet by the so here you have it, I hope you like it.

Urban Outfitters

Urban Outfitters es una tienda que siempre se me olvida. Debe ser porque en España no tiene tiendas en España y porque no se habla mucho de ella. Tiene una tienda online magnifica y envian a España, queda oficialmente añadida a mi lista de compras online.
I always forget about Urban Outfitters, maybe because there are no stores in Spain yet and nobody talks about it that much. But they have a really nice online shop and the ship to Spain so it will be included on my online shopping list from now on.

Tienen ropa, zapatos, bolsos, joyeria, regalos... Las tiendas son enormes y en ellas se puede encontrar de todo, ¡cuántas tardes he pasado yo en la de Oxford Street en Londres!.

They have clothes, shoes, bags, jewellery, gifts... The stores are huge and you can find everything in there, how many afternoons I spent in the Oxford Street one in London!!

Como podeis ver el estilo es muy Topshop aunque los precios son un poco mas altos, lo que no importa mucho cuando se encuentran algunas piezas tan especiales. Tambien venden marcas como Luella, See by Chloe o Paul & Joe sister entre otras.

As you can see the style is very "Topshop" but they also have brands like Luella, See by Chloe or Paul & Joe sister among others. The prices are a little bit higher than in Topshop but there are some amazing worth-the-spend pieces

Long life Luella

Luella deja de comercializarse por el cierre del fabricante y la consiguiente imposibilidad de distribuir la linea de primavera. En principio este problema podria no ser tan difícil de resolver pero parece que la compañía que tiene la licencia Club 21/VSQ ha decidido no invertir mas en la marca.
Luella Bartley siempre ha "presumido" de no pertenecer a ninguno de los grandes grupos de moda y parece que quiere continuar así por lo que ya está buscando un nuevo inversor.
Esperemos que todo tenga solución y podamos seguir disfrutando de Luella, a la que he dedicado post en alguna ocasión. Aqui os dejo algo de su ultimo desfile, ¿Qué os parece?

Luella has ceased trading because the key producer has closed and thay cannot deliver the spring collection. This could be solved but it looks like the brand's global licensee has decided not to invest in Luella anymore.
Designer Luella Bartley has always been proud of her brand not being part of any big Fashion group and it looks like she wants wo stay that way because she is already looking for another inverstor.
I hope everything gets to a happy end and we can keep enjoying Luella, about whom I talked about in some posts. Here is some of her last show. How do you like it?

Para aquellos que no lo sepan y especialmente para los que piensan que un editorial de moda es algo absurdo o fácil de hacer voy a compartir con vosotr@s algo que me enseñaron en el curso de Periodismo de moda de la Central Saint Martins.
Estilistas, editores y periodistas de moda acuden a las grandes pasarelas y si, trabajan. Muchos pensaran que se sientan a mirar pero en realidad están anotando, cada uno con su método, escogiendo, recopilando. Cuando algo se repite varias veces en un desfile podemos hablar de una característica de la colección, si se repite en varios diseñadores será una tendencia. Todas estas anotaciones harán mucho más sencillo el trabajo de montar una sesión para un editorial.
Pero lo más importante es la idea. En las sesiones de fotos se cuenta una historia pero no tiene audio, ni video ni siquiera palabras, solo son imágenes y prendas. Por eso es muy importante encontrar a los y las modelos adecuados, el escenario perfecto y sobre todo cuidar hasta el último detalle de peluquería y maquillaje.
La historia se cuenta con ropa así que la estilista pensara en las prendas que quiere. Le encargara a su asistente que pida por ejemplo vestidos negros o joyería de oro a diversas marcas o en algunas ocasiones pedirá prendas concretas, esas que en el desfiles fueron anotadas. La asistente llama, recibe las prendas, las clasifica etc. para que todo este perfectamente organizado.
Esto es lo que a mi me han enseñado muy resumido, por favor estilistas de el mundo corregidme si me he equivocado en algo aunque deberíais quejaros a mi profesora del curso mas que a mi, que nunca lo he visto en realidad.
Toda esta historia tiene un motivo la estilista senior de la revista W. Camilla Nickerson ha trabajado para Vogue UK y America y dicen que tiene un gusto exquisito para el arte y la fotografía además de para la moda. Ha trabajado también como estilista para algunas marcas y yo no he podido dejar de fijarme en su trabajo. Estaba ojeando la página Web de W cuando me di cuenta de que varios editoriales magníficos tenían en común, a parte de su brillantez, los estilismos de Camilla Nickerson. For those who doesn´t know or those who think a fashion editorial is something absurd or easy I am going to share with you something I learned at Central Saint Martins Fashion Journalism course.
Stylist, editors and fashion journalists go to fashion weeks and yes, they do work. Many people would think they only sit there and watch but the truth is that they actually write, draw, choose. When something is repeated in a designer is a characteristic of the collection, if it is repeated over many different shows it is most probably a trend. All that writing and selecting trends will make the job of putting together a photo shoot easier.
However the most important thing is the idea. They tell stories in a fashion editorial, stories without video, or audio or even words, stories with clothes. That’s why it is so important to find the perfect scenery, the adequate models and most of all take care of every single detail of hair and make-up.
The stylist will think what clothes he or she wants for her story. She will ask her assistant to call to the different brands asking for different things, say for example black dresses or golden jewellery . Sometimes they will use their notes and ask for those special pieces they saw on the catwalk. The assistant calls, gets the clothes and classifies them so everything is organised.
This is what the told me, in quite a short version, but please stylist of the world tell me if I am mistaken event though you should blame my teacher and not me because I have never really done any of this.
But this long story has a reason and she is W magazine’s senior fashion editor, Camilla Nickerson. She worked for Vogue America and Uk and rumor has it she’s got excellent taste for art and photography and of course, fashion. She also worked for some big brand campaigns and collections and I couldn’t help but noticing her work while taking a look at W website, realising that the most beautiful editorial were styled by her. Martens and trends

Lo he estado intentando y he sido incapaz de recordar cuando empecé a interesarme por la moda. Supongo que es algo que se lleva dentro o a lo mejor se adquiere inconscientemente, ya sabéis que creo firmemente en la influencia de las Barbies en esta especie de obsesión. .
Pues bien entre tanto interés, información, ratos delante de un ordenador viendo una por una las fotos de los desfiles y después de vivir tanto tiempo entre las páginas de Vogue, me creo capaz de explicar a los no iniciados o escépticos porque la moda puede ser considerada un arte, porque hay diseñadores que son genios y porque Coco Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent y Christian Dior han cambiado el mundo. Puedo explicar, tremendamente inspirada por Meryl Streep en El diablo viste de Prada, como la moda nos influye a todos, como las tendencias nos salpican incluso si no queremos y como es posible que un vestido bien cortado o un magnifico par de zapatos levanten la pasión de miles de personas alrededor del mundo.
Lo que aun no puedo explicar son esas modas, valga la redundancia, inexplicables, que llegan de vez en cuando. El ejemplo más significativo de esta temporada son las Dr.Martens.
Supongo que sonara pretencioso pero es verdad que siempre he tenido ojo para esto de las tendencias, supongo que todo fruto de la información sobre el tema que mi cerebro ha procesado. Es cierto que suelo desear cosas que no se encuentran en la high street pero esta temporada estoy ciertamente molesta porque he estado a punto de llegar tarde a las Martens.
Y voy a echar toda la culpa de este fenómeno, por supuesto con todo mi cariño y sin acritud, a las bloggers y a las it-girls de todo el mundo, aquellas chicas que se pongan lo que se pongan están magnificas y lo ponen de moda.
Parece que si se piensa no es tan difícil de explicar. Una chica fashion esta rebuscando en los armarios de su casa a la búsqueda de bolsos de la abuela, vestidos de su madre y otras reliquias vintage para marcar tendencia y de pronto encuentra una bolsa de zapatos y dentro están sus viejas Martens, aquellas botas acordonadas, ciertamente macarras y que nos hacían sentirnos tan grunge y tan rebeldes en los 90. Y los ojos de la chica se iluminan, imágenes de minifaldas de vuelo a la cintura con medias raídas y botas de cordones desgastadas aparecen en su mente, vaqueros claros con rotos en las rodillas, leggings de vinilo y maxi camisetas con logo... Y ya esta, un par de fotos, un par de comentarios y la tendencia esta creada.
Todo esto está claramente influido por la historia de la moda, por el momento actual, probablemente por las tendencias de la pasarela, todo esta íntimamente relacionado en moda aunque haya que fijarse mucho para darse cuenta.
Los 80 están aquí, las hombreras han podido con nosotros (sinceramente me he entregado a ellas de buen grado) ¿Son las Martens el símbolo de la vuelta de los 90?. Que Dios nos coja confesados.

I tried hard but I’ve been unable to remember when my interest in fashion started. I suppose is something you have inside or maybe you just get it without knowing, you know I am convinced of the Barbie doll influence in this kind of obsession I have.
Among all this interest, information, time spend in front of a screen watching one by one every picture of the catwalk shows and after all that time surrounded by Vogue magazines, I think myself capable of explaining to amateurs o non believers why fashion can be considered an art, why some designers are geniuses and why Coco Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent and Christian Dior changed the world. I can explain, profoundly inspired by Meryl Streep in Devil wears Prada, how we are all influenced by fashion, how trends reach us even if we don’t want to and how It is possible that a well-cut dress or an amazing pair of shoes make people around the world sigh with pleasure.
What I have never been able to explain are those unexplainable trends we get to see from time to time. Dr. Martens boots are the best of examples.
It might sound pretentious but it is true that I have always had an eye for trends, probably unconsciously influenced by all the fashion information my brain has processed, and I normally desire things that you cannot find in the high street. This is why I am quite upset, I have almost been late for Martens.
I am going to blame this phenomenon, no bad feelings of course, to bloggers andi t girls around the World, girls that can wear everything, always look amazing. They make fashion and they make trends.
Actually now that I am thinking it doesn’t seem so hard to explain. A fashion girl is at home, looking for granny’s old handbags, mummy’s dresses and other vintage finds to set a trend when they come across a bag with their old Martens boots inside. Oh, those nicely lace-up boots that made us feel so rebellious and grunge in the 90’s. The girl’s eyes lit up with emotion while pictures of full high-waisted skirts flick in her mind, washed and torn jeans, vinyl leggings and message T-shirts… That’s it, a pair of pictures, a pair of comments, a pair of boots a the trend is all set.
All this is, of course, deeply influenced by Fashion History and catwalk trends but anyway the 80’s are here, shoulder pads took over our wardrobes (I surrounded mine as soon as I could, I have to say) Are the Martens boots the symbol of the 90’s comeback? God save us.

Recuerdo vividamente un capitulo de Sexo en Nueva York donde Stan, el amigo gay de Carrie, habla sobre cuando la conocio y dice que llevaba zuecos, hecho que la escritora niega categóricamente por odiar por completo este tipo de zapatos. Pues bien, Karl Lagerfeld ha llenado su desfile campestre para Chanel de zuecos, y he de decir que lo siento pero esta es una de esas tendencias que NUNCA pienso acatar. He dicho.

I remember in Sex and the city when Stan, Carrie's gay friend, remembers when they first met and he says she was wearing clogs. She denies the fact quite fast, feeling horrified by the idea of those shoes. Well, Karl Lagerfeld's last country(ish) show was virtually full of clogs and I have to say that I am sorry but I solemnly swear this is one of those trends I will never EVER follow. I had to say it out loud, thanks for listening.

Annie Leibovitz ha pedido una mochila con sitio para su equipo fotografico, el artista Damien Hirst un baul con compartimento para instrumentos quirurgicos y el propio Marc Jacobs un baul para llevar a sus perros. ¡Veremos cuanto se recauda!

Siento mucho la falta de post en verano pero he estado muy ocupada y me ha sido imposible atender el blog. Ahora vuelve la Universidad y la rutina asi que tendre mas tiempo. ¡¡Espero que hayais tenido un buen verano!!

Some artists have been asked by Louis Vuitton to design some suitcases that will be sold in an auction in Sotheby's on November 17th. The money will be destined to the Red Cross.
Annie Leibovitz asked for a backpack with a place for her photographic equipment, artist Damien Hirst wanted to fit in surgical tools and Marc Jacobs himself designed a trunk to take his dogs when travelling by plane. We'll see how much they collect!

By the way I am really sorry for the lack of summer postings. I've been really busy but now Uni is back and routine is around the corner so I will have more time!! Hope you all had a nice time.

La pelicula "The september Issue" sera estrenada a finales del mes de agosto. Para grabar esta pelicula documental las camaras siguieron a Anna Wintour, directora de Vogue USA y dicen que la persona mas influyente del mundo de la moda, durante gran parte del año 2007. En ese tiempo ella y su equipo estaban creando el numero mas grande del año, el del mes de septiembre. Solo unos pocos han podido verla y nadie suelta prenda pero aqui os dejo el trailer mas largo que acaba de salir, ¡¡espero que os guste!!

The movie "The September Issue" is due to be presented at the end of august. To record this documentary movie Anna Wintour, Vogue USA director and the most influential person in the fashion industry, was followed by cameras for most of 2007. During that time Wintour and her team were working on the biggest issue of the world, the september issue. Only some have been fortunate enough to watch it and they keep it secret so here is the longest and just released trailer, I hope you like it!!

La estetica es algo masculina y diferente a lo que habia hecho anteriormente aunque sus accesorios siguen siendo fantasticos, lo que se dejo notar en los zapatos y bolsos.

Phoebe Philo former designer for Chloe, has rpesented her first collection for Celine. She said she intended to create a wardrobe more that getting into trends. Parece que Emma Watson deja Chanel de lado y se pasa a Burberry, marca de la que sera imagen. Esta es una de las fotografias de la campaña, por Mario Testino. Watson esta fantastica, cada dia mas guapa y tiene un estilo que, aunque a veces peca de poco arriesgado, suele ser bastante acertado.
It looks like Emma Watson is leaving Chanel apart for a bit to wear Burberry because she is going to be the image for the brand. This is one of the pictures of the campaign by Mario Testino. Watson is beautiful and has a certain style and even though sometimes she could risk a little more with her clothes, it is true that she normally looks pretty amazing.

Estos dias estoy muy desenganchada de los blogs porque la vuelta a casa ha sido bastante caotica pero la pagina de Vogue España sigue siendo mi pagina de inicio y aunque no tengo mucho tiempo para entrar en internet, sigo leyendola al menos un vez cada par de dias.

Cual fue mi sorpresa cuando esta mañana lei que se rumorea que Karl Lagerfeld podria dejar Chanel para dejar paso a Alber Elbaz, actualmente en la casa Lanvin donde Oliver Theyskens ocuparia el cargo de diseñador.

I am currently very busy because coming back home has been sort of a chaos but Vogue Spain is still the home page in my Internet explorer and I still read ir every couple of days.

I was very surprised this morning when I read that rumor has it that Karl Lagerfeld could leave Chanel and Alber Elbaz will fill his gap. Oliver Theyskens will be the new designer for Lanvin.

Cuando Chanel presento su coleccion para el proximo otoño comente en este mismo blog que en mi opinion Karl Lagerfeld estaba cayendo en la rutina asi que creo que su salida de la casa francesa seria el fin de una era pero a lo mejor algo positivo, el Kaiser es un genio con o sin Chanel.

Lo que no veo tan claro es lo que seria de Lanvin sin Alber Elbaz, protagonista del renacimiento de la marca, me gusta tanto ese binomio que no quiero ni pensar en que se deshaga.

¿Creeis que algo de esto es verdad o es imposible que estos diseñadores dejen sus marcas actuales?

When Chanel showed his collection for next fall I said in this same blog that in my opinion Karl Lagerfeld was becoming a bit boring so if he left the french maison it will be the end of an era but maybe something very positive, Lagerfeld is a genius with or without Chanel.

What I can't even think about is Lanvin without Alber Elbaz, main character of the rebirth of the brand. I love this couple so much that I cannot imagine one without the other.

Do you think any of this is true? or is it impossible for both designers to leave their brands?

Ayer tuve una fiesta de disfraces y el tema era los años 20. Estaba deseando estrenar estos pantalones que compre en Londres y me quede muy contenta ya que si quitamos la cinta, el pelo y el maquillaje de años 20 nos queda un look muy interesante con pantalones por el tobillo, estoy deseando seguir experimentando.

Yesterday I had a fancy dress party and the topic was the 20's. I was willing to wear these trousers I bought in London and I felt very happy when I realised that without the hair band and the 20's hairstyle and make-up, I got a very good look for these ankle lenght trousers, I'm wishing to keep playing with them.

Este es un detalle de las ondas del pelo, ademas me recogi la melena para acercarme lo mas posible a un bob de la epoca. El maquillaje de los 20 no es el mas favorecedor con los labios pequeños, las cejas largas y hacia abajo y la sombra oscura en la parte interior del ojo es casi todo lo contrario a lo que hacemos hoy en dia pero habia que meterse en el papel.

This is a detail of the waves and I also tied up my hair to resemble the bob from that time. The make-up of that time was not the most flattering with long eyebrows facing down, dark eyeshadow in the inner corner of the eye and small lips, almost the opposite from what we do today but it was a fancy dress party!

Estas son las sandalias negras que llevaba. Son de Topshop y cada dia estoy mas contenta, van a ser mis zapatos del verano.

And these are my black Topshop sandals that I was wearing yesterday and that I love more everyday, they are going to be my favourite shoes for this summer.

The Lady Noire Affair

Llevo varios dias esperando para actualizar porque sabia que hoy dia 20 se lanzaba el corto de la campaña de Lady Dior. Es una pelicula de unos 8 minutos con ambiente de cine negro y una magnifica Marion Cotillard. La atencion se centra por supuesto en productos de Dior, principalmente el bolso Lady Dior pero tambien unas magnificas sandalias y varios complementos mas. Este solo el capitulo uno, parece que despues de Lady Noir vendra Lady Rouge, estaremos esperando pero mientras tanto aqui teneis el anuncio recien estrenado y el link para ver el 'making of'.

I've been waiting to update because I new today was the releasing date of the short Lady Dior movie. It is about 9 minutes long and the scenery reminds of a dark movie, also Marion Cotillard looks amazing. The attention is mainly drawn to Dior products, specially a Lady Dior bag and a pair of beautiful heeled sandals but also some other merchandise. It seems that it is just chapter 1 because Lady Rouge will cme after this Lady Noir. WE'll be waiting but meanwhile here you have the just released ad and the link for the making of.

Y como de Chanel va la cosa, aqui estan las imagenes de la coleccion Paris-Moscu. Como el propio nombre indica Paris es el escenario y Rusia la inspiracion ya que las prendas hacen clara referencia a los uniformes militares rusos. Si el desfile del la coleccion crucero se celebro en Venecia por la relacion especial de Coco con la ciudad esta coleccion es en parte inspirada por la relacion entre la diseñadora y un conde ruso. El fotografo es por supuesto el propio Karl Lagerfeld y la modelo Sasha Pivovarova.

And I keep talking about Chanel. Here they are some pictures from the Paris-Moscow collection. Paris is the scenery and Russia the inspiration, with clear references to militar uniforms. And if the cruise collection show took place in Venecia because of the special relation between Coco and that city, this collection is in part inspired by Coco's relationship with the russian Dimitri. Karl Lagerfeld is the photographer and Sasha Pivovarova the model.

Si no supiera que es imposible, creeria que el Kaiser leyo mi post sobre su ultimo desfile para Chanel porque he visto un cambio positive en la coleccion Crucero 2010. El año pasado fue en un Hotel de Miami y este en la playa del Hotel Excelsior en Venecia, ciudad a la que se le hizo un guiño en el desfile con estas gafas tipo mascara carnavalesca y el uso del leon, simbolo de la ciudad y signo zodiacal de Coco.
If it wasn’t absolutely impossible I would think that Karl Lagerfeld read my post about his last show for Chanel because I’ve seen a change in his Cruise Collection 2010. Last year in Miami and this one in the beach of the Excelsior Hotel in Venice, city that was referenced with this carnival mask-like sunglasses and the use of the lion, town emblem and Coco's birth sign.

Si en su ultimo desfile Lagerfeld utilizaba el verde, en este las gamas de rojo y rosa fueron protagonistas.

He used green in his last show and this time Lagerfeld played with different shades of red and pink.

Algunos tejidos y prendas con un aire muy biarroco y algunas modelos llevaron pelucas estilo años 30.

Some fabrics and clothes had a baroque style and some models wore wigs for a 30’2 bob.

Estos son algunos conjuntos que he decidido destacar. El primero leggings y camiseta de curioso estampado. Un par de modelos desfilaron con el clasico traje de falda y chaqueta pero parece que se apuntan al nuevo sexy de Prada con sujetador en vez de camiseta. La tercera foto muestra lo que parece una chaqueta muy larga con pantalones por el tobillo.

Here some clothes I have decided to outline. First of all leggings and top with a particular matching print. Y sigo hablando de zapatos pero no lo he podido evitar cuando en la pagina web de Vogue UK he leido que el par de "manolos" que Carrie encuentra en el armario de Vogue y llama "leyenda urbana" estan de nuevo a la venta. Se trata de unos zapatos de atar a un lado que Blahnik diseño a partir de unos zapatos de niña pero ' los hice sexy con punta y tacon alto'. Segun dice Vogue estan ya a la venta en Londres por 400 libras, por si quereis daros un capricho. A mi me parecen una buena inversion, el tipico clásico que nunca muere, ¿que creeis vosotros/as?

El Museo del Traje de Madrid acoge entre el 8 de mayo y el 30 de agosto una exposicion itinerante organizada por el Museo del Calzado de la ciudad de Vigevano en Italia, "Tacones de aguja. Fascinacion y seduccion".

Desde su nacimiento en 1940 en la coleccion New Look de Christian Dior, el zapato de tacon the aguja se ha convertido en un complemento basico y desde los 50 los diseñadores de todo el mundo empezaron a darle forma a su historia. Desde entonces y hasta la actualidad la muestra respasa ejemplares italianos y extranjeros de Prada, Louboutin, Jimmy Choo o Manolo Blahnik entre otros muchos.

Between the 8th of May and the 30th of August the Fashion Museum in Madrid is showing an exhibition organised bt the Shoe Museum of the City of Vigevano in Italy.

It was created by Christian Dior in his 1940 show "New Look" and since then, the stiletto has been a basic accesory in a woman's wardrobe, Since the 50's the big names of fashion started shaping its history and now this exhibition shows the story until the current date with shoes from Prada, Louboutin, Jimmy Choo or Manolo Blanhik among others. He de reconocer que nunca me ha vuelto loca Natalia Vodianova, me parece muy guapa y todo eso pero creo que tiene un rostro demasiado inocente. Aun asi reconozco que en sus apariciones publicas siempre esta muy correcta y me ha sorprendido mucho la portada de Vogue UK este mes donde aparece, como podeis ver, totalmente desnuda. Despues del escandalo de Eugenia Silva y Vanity Fair España ¿que os parecen las portadas con desnudos?¿creeis que estan justificadas?
Yo creo que si la modelo esta dispuesta y tan estupenda como en esta caso, por que no! eso si, portadas de desnudos explicitas sin motivo no. ¿Qué pensais vosotros?

I have to say that I was never a big fan of Natalia Vodianova. I think she is beautiful of course but I always though she looks too naif. She always looks nice in public appearances, that is true, and I was very surprised when I saw the cover of the June Issue of Vogue UK , where she appears as you can see completely naked. In may's edition of the Spanish Vanity fair (take a look here), models Eugenia Silvia, Nieves Alvarez were naked and model Andres Velencoso was dressed in the middle. Eugenia Silvia complained saying she didn't know the cover was going to be like that and bla bla bla. What do you think about covers with naked models?
In my opinion if the model agrees and is a nice cover like in this month's vogue, why not? but I don't like too explicit nakedness without need. What do you think?

No entiendo lo que pasa con algunas celebrities en estos eventos porque normalmente estan estupendas y luego hacen cosas extrañas como Leighton Meester con sus leggings barrocos o Rachel Weistz con los labios pintados casi de negro.

Me encanta cuando la moda, un arte muy poco reconocido como tal, se mezcla con otros tipos de genio. Vistos los shows de Viktor & Rolf esta claro que saben como poner prendas en escena. Por eso no es de extrañar que el Robert Wilson, director de teatro, les haya escogido en dos ocasiones como diseñadores de vestuario. La primera fue en 2004 y la segunda para la opera romatica Der Freischutz este mismo año.

I really like when fashion, normally not very recognised as an art, gets together with other kinds of genius. Viktor & Rolf's shows always give us something to talk about clothes and how they put them on stage. That's why it suits them to create costume for the theatre, and that is why director Robert Wilson asked them to collaborate in two occasions. First in 2004 and the second one for th romantic opera Der Freischutz (The Freeshooter)by Carl Maria von Weber.

Han creado prendas en 3D con cristales de Swarovski (casi un millon)y llenas de color para los solistas y prendas inspiradas en la tradicion alemana para el coro. Se estrena el 30 de Mayo en el Festspielhaus Baden-Baden.

They have created colorful 3D constructions with Swarovski elements (almost a million) for the soloists and German inspired costume for the chorus. It opens May 30th at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden.

Biba fue la tienda londinense que durante los años 60 y hasta su cierre en 1976 marco la moda de toda una generacion.
Barbara Hulanicki era ilustradora de moda y tambien dueña y diseñadora de Biba. Tras el cierre siguio trabajando como tal y ahora ha creado una coleccion en colaboracion con Topshop con un espiritu diferente. Mañana se pone a la venta y aqui os dejo un adelanto. Mas informacion.

Biba was a store in London that changed the way a whole generation dressed during the sixties and until its closure in 1976.

Segun informa Vogue UK, La casa Nina Ricci acaba de anunciar al sucesor de Oliver Theyskens. Peter Copping es graduado de la Central Saint Martins (para variar) y antes trabajaba con Marc Jacobs en Louis Vuitton. Dicen que no habra ningun desfile suyo hasta Marzo para que entienda del todo la firma y pueda estudiar los archivos. Estaremos esperando.

Peter Copping, Central Saint Martins graduate and former worker in the creative team of Marc Jacobs in Louis Vuitton, is to be the replacement of Oliver Theyskens. Stephanie Seymour está fantástica pero aun asi las prendas destacan sobre todo lo demas. El modelo español Andres Velencoso es el protagonista masculino. Las fotos son de Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot.

Estaba yo en plena busqueda de inspiración viendo revistas, otros blogs, borradores de ideas en mis libretas y documentos de mi ordenador cuando di con esta maravilla.
La coleccion de Marc Jacobs para Louis Vuitton es una de las mas alabadas de esta primavera e incluso ha creado una tendencia casi por si solo. Pero cada vez que lo veo consigue sorprenderme un poco mas y esta foto es un ejemplo no solo del tribal chic sino de muchas de las tendencias de la temporada: hombros estructurados, cinturon obi, maxi joyeria, colores vivos, pantalones de corte masculino y sandalias de tiras. Esta misma tarde he llegado a Londres, donde durante 10 dias sere orgullosa alumna de la CSM para un curso corto que no es mas que el principio de mi idilio con esta escuela en la que espero continuar mis estudios cuando termine la carrera.

La ultima vez que estuve aqui fue hace casi dos años asi que tenia muchisimas ganas de este viaje, donde por primera vez no tendre que hacer las visitas turisticas obligadas cuando vas a una ciudad en la que tu ya has estado pero la persona que va contigo no. Estos dias solo voy a ver mercadillos y tiendas vintage, voy a empaparme del estilo londinense todo lo que pueda y luego voy a escribir sobre ello, al fin y al cabo eso es lo que hacemos los periodistas.

I was here for the last time 2 years ago and so I was really looking forward to this day! Doy gracias a Dios por las 3 semanas de vacaciones de Semana Santa que figuran en el calendario academico del Reino Unido. Por lo menos en Gales del 27 de marzo al 20 de abril, 3 largas semanas de vacaciones para olvidarse de la universidad, aunque deberia pensar en los trabajos que tengo que escribir cuando vuelva estare viajando a España y Londres, os mantendre informados! Asi que me disculpo ya por la futura falta de posts!!

Pero para que malgastar palabras cuando el propio Williamson nos puede explicar todo lo que necesitamos saber en este video. El color es un elemento clave de la primavera y este año la moda lo refleja a la perfeccion.

Los diseñadores vistieron a sus modelos con colores vivos de pies a cabeza. Ahora bien, si en el caso de los tonos nude era facil conseguir el look aqui se complica un poco mas, hay que tener cuidado con los diferentes tonos de la misma gama para conseguie el total look.

Colour is an essential characteristic of spring and this year's fashion reflects it perfectly. Designers dressed their models in bright powerful colours from head to toe. However, if it was easy to put together different nude pieces, here it gets more complicated, you have to be careful with the different shades of the same colours if we want to wear them at the same time.

Si hay una pasion que la gran mayoria de las mujeres compartimos, son sin duda los zapatos. Para esta primavera las propuestas se centran sobre todo en sandalias y zapatos mas abiertos a parte de las mil veces vistas y explotadas gladiadoras con tacon o sandalias de tiras. He hecho una pequeña seleccion de algunos de mis favoritos, muchos de ellos vistos sin descanso en todos lados.
If the mayority of women in the world share something in life is probably an passion for shoes. For this Spring they are mostly sandals and open shoes apart from the strappy sandals that everybody has already. This is a small selection of my favourites, some of them have been seen eveywhere for the past months but I still love them!

Haciendo honor a la primavera que ya esta entre nosotros, voy a recuperar el repaso de las tendencias tras el paron de las semanas de la moda. Los tonos maquillaje o 'nude' pueden ser una eleccion perfecta para la primavera y el verano. Es cuestion de encontrar el tono que se ajusta a nuestro bronceado pero desde el blanco roto hasta los tonos melocoton pasando por beiges y tostados, todo esta permitido.

Spring is already among us so I'm going to go back to the trends review. Nudes were all over the catwalks for this season (and the next one too). You only hve to try and find the shade that better suits your tanned skin, the good news is you have a wide range to choose, from cream to peach, light browns, beige...

El total look en nude tambien es relativamente facil de conseguir porque a estas alturas todo el mundo tiene unas sandalias de tiras marrones o algun tipo de zapato en tonos claros. Al ser una gama de colores muy combinables entre si podemos utulizar varias prendas de la gama y conseguir un acercamiento a las pasarelas mundiales. Pero la combinacion vestido nude y complementos en negro tambien se acepta y los tonos mas claros pueden ser combinados con colores diferentes al negro asi que todo el mundo a experimentar.
The total look in nude is relatively easy to get because by now everybody has some kind of strappy sandal in brown or a pair of shoes in light colors. This shades are very combinable so we can put all our nudes together and get a catwalk look. It is also possible to pair nude with black, nice and easy and lighter shades can also be paired with other colours so lets play!

Para acercarse al look con este tiempo primaveral tan inestable se puede buscar alguna camiseta beige (en Topshop hay muchas de diferentes largos y formas perfectas para este proposito) con leggings y boyfriend blazer. Si nos aseguramos de que el largo es suficiente siempre podremos usar la camiseta como vestido en verano con las piernas morenas.

Approaching the look in the inestable weather is kind of easy. Look for a nice plain beige T-shirt (check Topshop for different shapes and lengths) with leggings and boyfriend blazer. And if you are clever enough you'll go for a lenght that you can wear as a dress when the summer comes and your legs are tanned!

Y ya que estamos con caprichos ¿que tal estos zapatos de Dior? solo por el tacon ya valen la pena.

Un poco de color en otoño nunca viene mal y estos dos vestidos de Mario Schwab y Elie Saab respectivamente, cumplen perfectamente el objetivo. Eso si, el de Elie Saab seria acortado varios centimetros.

A little bit of nice happy colour is good in fall and these two dresses by Mario Schwab and Elie Saab are kind of perfect. The Elie Saab one will probably see the skirt shortened various centimetres.

Otra compra muy socorrida es este top de Isabel Marant. Como ya os dije en su momento me compraria casi toda la coleccion pero tenia que escoger asi que..

Esta falda y cuerpo de Louis Vuitton (si ahora me enterase de que es un vestido me veria decepcionada) ademas del cinturon serian mios a la minima oportunidad.

Y por ultimo uno de esos modelos que me compraria mañana, usaria todo el verano y seguiria usando en invierno, los pantalones de pinzas de Chloé. Los de la coleccion de primavera son relativamente parecidos y H&M tiene una copia bastante aceptable.

This Isabel Marant top is my choice from a collection from where I will buy everything as I told you in other posts, but I had to choose one picture...

This top and skirt from Louis Vuitton (if somebody told me it is actually a dress I will be very deceived) and the belt, I will buy all three things at the first chance.

And last but not least one of those things I will buy tomorrow, use for months and just keep using it in winter, the pleated Chloé trusers. The ones in the spring collection are very similar and the H&M version is really alike!!

Y esto es todo, prometo evitar el tema proxima temporada lo maximo posible y ahora a disfrutar de la primavera que parece que el sol ya se deja ver, ¡incluso en Gales!.

Oliver Theyskens deja Nina Ricci. Algunos dijeron que su exquisita coleccion para el otoño de 2009 era una despedida, otros no podian creer que en la casa francesa fueran a dejar escapar tanta brillantez.

Llego a Nina Ricci en 2006 despues de un gran trabajo en Rochas, y aunque la critica normalmente le halaga las ventas no subieron. Reese Witherspoon y Sarah Jessica Parker visten sus diseños en la alfombra roja y fue uno de los primeros en mostrar faldas cortas por alante y largas por atras.
He arrived to Nina Ricci in 2006 (after a great job in Rochas) and even though the critic normally loves his job, sales didn't go up. Reese Witherspoon and Sarah Jessica Parker usually wear his gowns in the red carpet and he was the one of the first to start the short-in-the-front-and-long-in-the-back skirts.

Veremos que diseñador entra a formar parte de Nina Ricci. En cuanto a Theyskens no debemos preocuparnos porque se rumorea que va a volver a iniciar su propia marca ( comenzo una nada mas abandonar la escuela de diseño pero tuvo que cerrarla por falta de fondos), asi que si tenemos suerte dentro de poco volveremos a ver algun diseño suyo encima de una pasarela.

Let's see which designer fills in his gap in Nina Ricci. As for Theyskens don't worry too much because rumor has it he is going to start his own brand again (he started one rigth after he left fashion school but had to close due to lack of funds), so if we are lucky we'll soon see some of his designs on a catwalk again.

Parece que ahora que los desfiles de la proxima temporada han terminado nos van a dejar disfrutar un poco de las compras de primavera, aunque si somos listas tendremos la mente puesta en las tendencias de otoño para sacar el maximo partido a las prendas y adelantarnos a la moda. Antes de volver a centrar mi mente en flores y trajes de baño voy a contaros lo que me compraria la proxima temporada, si tuviera los recusos necesarios claro (no os preocupeis por mi que encontrare la manera de hacerme con piezas similares).
Finally, after the fashion shows ended, it looks like we are free to think about spring again, although if we are clever enough we'll think about fall trends in our spring summer buys so we can use the clothes for longer. Anyway, before I go back to flowers and swimming suits I'm going to share with you my dream clothes for nest fall, what I will definetely buy if I had the means, of course (don´t worry about me too much, I will find a way of buying similar pieces)

Este jersey de Loewe podria sustituir con mucho estilo el basico jersey negro de cuello subido.

Jean Paul Gaultier presento varios vestidos muy interesantes como este en marron y tambien medias de rayas verticales alternando opaco y transparente en diferentes tonos. Las marrones me sirven, las azul klein son un sueño.

Esta chaqueta de Philip Lim roza la perfeccion en exceso.

I saw some nice dresses in Jean Paul Gaultier, this brown one is one of my favourites and the tights!! Vertical stripes in transparent and opaque, they are nice in brown, but check out the blue ones!!

This Philip Lim jacket is just too close to perfection.

El vestido de Vivienne Westwood me parece comodo, combinable, calentito...

Los shorts de Chloé son increibles. En la imagen son de franela pero tampoco me imporarian los de ante o los de punto (se aceptan regalos).

La falda de Balmain, ¿que decir de ella? habia muchas prendas en la coleccion que podria ponerme (apareceran mas en la segunda entrega de este post)pero la falda me robo el corazon desde el primer momento. Seria probablemente lo primero que me compraria de toda esta lista.

Chloe shorts, this ones in flanel but I will have to doubt between the suede or wool ones (gifts accepted)

And the Balmain skirt, what else do I need to say? there are many pieces in that collection I would wear (I will show you more of these on the secont part of this post) but it was just love in first sight with this skirt.

The Little Black Dress

En los años 20, Coco Chanel creo un vestido negro, sencillo, recto y con un largo a medio muslo. Era una prenda asequible para un amplio publico, basica, versatil y elegante. Dior y Givenchy añadieron su particular vision años mas tarde y aun hoy en dia es considerado un must have en los armarios femeninos. Es raro el desfile en el que no se encuentra una version pero el Little Black Dress se reinventa y adapta a las modas como ninguna otra prenda. Aun asi todavia se pueden encontrar algunas versiones que cumplen el objetivo inicial de Coco: ser utilizable en muchas ocasiones. (Fotos linea superior y linea inferior)

In the 20's Coco Chanel created a simple, calf-length, black dress. It was an affordable piece of clothing, accesible by many women, basic, versatile and elegant. Muchos de los que se presentan en la actualidad se olvidan de la sencillez inicial. Las faldas se acortan, los tirantes se hacen asimetricos, las formas se ajustan al cuerpo y los materiales se enriquecen. Es esencial encontrar una version sencilla del LBD para cualquier ocasion pero ¿quien puede resistirse a hacerse cada temporada con el que cumpla los canones vigentes de la moda?

Most of the ones that are shown nowadays forget about the initial simpleness. Skirts get shorter, asymetric shapes take the lead, it adjusts to the body and the fabrics are more luxurious and rich. It is essential to have a basic version of the LBD for every occassion but, who can resist the tempation of buying every season the one that follows the current fashion rules?
