Mientras Milan esta "on" voy a seguir publicando mis desfiles favoritos. Ya le dedique un post cuando gano el premio a la diseñadora del año y ahora le toca a su coleccion AW09. A lo mejor es porque era periodista de moda y ahora es diseñadora (exactamente lo que me gustaria hacer a mi) por lo que me siento tan atraida por ella y su .Luella Bartley presento una coleccion con mucho negro y algun toque punk londinense. Todo muy ponible como la mayoria de las cosas que pasan por Londres. Os dejo una seleccion de imagenes, despues de verlas a lo mejor entendeis porque me gusta tanto.



While Milan is happening I´m going to keep telling you my favourites. I posted about her when she was named best designer of the year and now it is her AW09 collection. It may be because she was a fashion journalist and then became a designer (exactly what I would like to do!) that I feel so attracted to her and her work. Luella Bartley presented a black-based collection, with slight london punk details. Everything really wearable like most of what is shown in London. Here is a selection of pictures, after taking a look you´ll probably understand why I like it soooo much.

Visto el retraso que llevo con las pasarelas, que tengo mucho que escribir y presentaciones que preparar, voy a guardarme mis pensamientos sobre NYFW y a pasarme directamente a mis favoritos de Londres. ¿Os he dicho alguna vez que Londres es quizás mi Semana de la Moda preferida? Por supuesto Paris brilla con luz propia sobre todo gracias a Lanvin y Balmain mis dos ultimas obsesiones, Cibeles es interesante por que nos enseña el enorme progreso de la moda española de los ultimos años, sintiendolo mucho Milán me aburre bastante y Nueva York....solo con ver como la ciudad se vuelca con la Semana de la Moda ya esta todo dicho.
Pues estaba yo viendo detalladamente cada desfile de la Semana de la Moda de Londres cuando descubri una maravilla. Graeme Black, anteriormente diseñador de Ferragamo en su segunda coleccion independiente.
Because I´m pretty busy writting essays and preparing presentations I´m going to keep my thoughts about NYFW for myself and do straigh to London. Have I ever told you that LOndon is maybe my favourite fashion week? Of course Paris shines with a different light, especially because of Balmain and Lanvin, my latest obssesions, Cibeles is interesting because it shows the development of Spanish Fashion in the last years, I´m sorry to say that Milan bores me quite a lot and New York....just see how the city is all about Fashion Week in those days and everything is said.
So, there I was, watching every picture of every catwalk of London Fashion Week when I discovered an amazing thing. Graeme Black, former Ferragamo designer with his second independent collection.

Inspirada en el Museo de de Ciencias Naturales de Londres, la coleccion evoluciona desde formas femeninas y "cocoon" a estampados minerales. Me encanta el volumen en las caderas y la cintura ceñida, me gustan los tonos, me gustan los abrigos y me gustan los materiales!
Inspired in the London Natural History Museum , the clothes evolve from feminine shapes and cocoon shapes to mineral prints. I like the volume n the hips with the narrow waists, I like the colours, I like the coat and I like the materials!

Do it yourself....

Nota mental: Nunca mas te vayas de viaje mientras haya alguna Semana de la Moda celebrandose. Como aun no me ha dado tiempo a ponerme al dia con Nueva York y Madrid, aqui estan unas fotos de mi entretenimiento de ayer. He de decir que esta idea la copie de Park & Cube, donde se contaba paso a paso como hacer un clon de unos shorts vaqueros de Alexander Wang. Mi idea era poner las cadenas pero me gustaron tanto sin ellas que decidi utilizarlos un poco antes de ponerles nada mas (pero lo hare en algun momento)

Mental note: Never go on holidays while Fashion Weeks are On. As I didn´t have time to examine carefully NY collections or Madrid, here there are some pictures of my yesterday´s entertaiment. I have to admit that I copied this idea from Park & Cube, where they say how to make a copy of a pair of Alexander Wang's denim shorts. The idea was using the chains too but I loved them so much without them that I decided not to put them for know (but I will at some point)

Cortados al largo deseado y despues solo hace falta desgastarlos con una lima para que aparezcan los hilos blancos o abrir un corte si lo queremos mas abierto.

You just need to cut them to the desired lenght and use a nail file to wear it out and show the white fabric or open a cut if you want the tears wider.

Y no pude esperar para estrenarlos asi que rapidamente me los puse con mi nueva americana de botones dorados comprada en una tienda vintage de glasgow, camiseta blanca de Oysho y zapatos masculinos de Topshop y por supuesto medias que el tiempo no esta para bobadas. Las posibilidades que se me ocurren para estos pantalones son infinitas ¿alguien se anima a copiarme?.

And I couldn´t wait to wear them so I put on my new double breasted blazer, bought on a vintage shop in Glasgow, white T-shirt from Oysho, black Topshop Brogues and tights of course because the weather is not very nice yet. I can see a whole world of possibilities for this shorts, anyone wants to imitate them?

Prometo ponerme al dia e intentar hacer un resumen de mis favoritos de NY. Mientras tanto disfrutad de Cibeles y de la Semana de la Moda de Londres!!

Trouser-mania...

Despues de varias temporadas de importancia vital de los vestidos, el pantalón vuelve para reivindicar un puesto principal en nuestros armarios. Aparece en nuevas formas, generalmente ancho y masculino pero que no cunda el panico, si habeis sido tan afortunadas como para encontrar los pantalones pitillo perfectos (el unico pantalón que ha sobrevivido estos ultimos años sobre todo por el auge de los leggins) no os preocupeis porque esta primavera en cuestion de pantalones, vale todo.
After some seasons with dresses all over the place, the trouser comes back tu claim a main position in our closets. New shapes, mainly masculine and loose, appear but don´t worry, if were lucky enough to find the perfect pair of skinnies (the only accepted trousers thanks to the success of the leggings) you can still use them because this spring if you are wearing trousers you are being fashionable.

Los monos de los 70 y 80 volvieron con fuerza este invierno y siguen aqui para primavera (en la High Street Topshop tiene la mayor variedad, para los que esteis en España mirad http://www.topshop.com/, largos, cortos, estampados….)
The jumpsuit comes back from the 70’s and 80’s. They were a trend this winter and the same for spring. In the High Street Topshop has the biggest variety, take a look in stores or on www.topshop.com, long, short, printed fabrics…

Pantalones anchisimos en muchas colecciones. Toman el protagonismo con partes de arriba sencillas.
Really loose trousers in a lot of collections. They are the main thing in the look so wear them with basic tops.

Pantalones de cintura alta y con pinzas muy masculinos. Muchos tipo harem con volumen en las caderas (no pongo foto porque estoy cansada de verlos en todos lados) y en general pantalones tobilleros, asi que a remangarse todas.
High-waisted and pleated trousers in very masculine looks. A lot of harem-type (no picture because they are everywhere and although I like them I´m kind of bored of them) with volume in the hips and a lot of peg leg, most of them ankle-long, so roll-up everybody!!

Give me a full skirt, and you have my heart!!

Este invierno estan de plena actualidad las faldas de cintura alta y mas que nunca si son cortas y con vuelo. Parece que la proxima primavera repite la tendencia con algunos arreglillos y por supuesto algunas innovaciones, siempre hay diseñadores que se inventan alguna cosa nueva.
The trendiest thing this winter are full high-waisted skirts, the shorter the better. It seems the same is going on this spring, with minimum alters. Of course there are always designers that surprise their public with innovations.

I love 80's

El pasado agosto, en una epoca de obsesion compulsiva por la ropa vintage que se vende en ebay, consegui ganar la subasta y me hice con una camisa plateada vintage de los 80 que he utilizado solo como mini vestido y que pedia hombreras a gritos . Llevaba un par de temporadas diciendoselo a todo el mundo "vuelven las hombreras" y esta era mi oportunidad.

Last August, during a vintage-ebay-shopping obssesion, I won the bid and subsequently a gorgeus silver shirt from the 80's that I have only used as a mini-dress and that was shouting at me "Shoulder pads!!!". By that time I had been warning about the shoulder pads come back for a while, and this was my opportunity to play with it.

Me gustan los 80 desde siempre. Me gusta la mezcla de estampados, el maquillaje marcado, los peinados imposibles...pero sobre todo me gusta la silueta, la ausencia total de miedo a dar forma a los hombros y ceñir la cintura al maximo o utilizar prendas oversized encima de leggins o pitillos. Por eso, cuando por fin en los desfiles de primavera verano 2009 vi la importancia que muchos diseñadores daban a los hombros me ilusione, aun mas de lo normal, con el sueño de una nueva temporada.

I love the eighties, always have. I like the impossible print mix, the stong make-up, the complicated hairstyles... but above all I love the silhouette, the total lack of fear of defining the shoulders and fasten the belts tightly around the waist or wearing oversized clothes over leggins or skinnies. That´s why I was so much more happy with the new season after watching the importance given by many designers to the shoulders in their collections for this spring summer.

Otros han llevado la tendencia a elegantes extremos adaptando prendas del dia a dia (como las chaquetas militares de Balmain) o dando personalidad a vestidos y blusas.
Other designers have taken the trend further to every-day clothes (like the military jackets in Balmain) or using it to give some personality to dresses and blouses.
